MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ—On Thursday evening, the annual Union County Preschool and Enrichment Fair was hosted by New Jersey Mom's Guide at L'Affaire in Mountainside. The event provided parents with an opportunity to learn about the various programs and schools in Westfield and the surrounding area. Over 30 schools, academies, preschools and programs were present and 160 people were registered to attend. Enrichment programs included Salta! Jump, Bi-Lingual Buds, Bamboo Shoots, Dancer's Pointe, Preschool of Rock and Brainiacs.
Jo Gassler of RWJ Fitness and Wellness Center was on hand to speak about their Fit Kids Program, which includes Parent and Me classes. RWJ Fitness Center serves the Westfield area.
“Tonight is the first time the fair is open for children. We have a nice turnout because of it,” said Christina Castro, publisher of New Jersey Moms Guide. She also pointed out that several private schools were represented, including Oak Knoll, Wardlaw Hartridge and Kent Place.
Parents who attended appreciated the opportunity to speak with many representatives and collect information. Youngsters were treated to several performances by Michael Napolitano from the Preschool of Rock, who played his guitar and entertained with lively songs and rhythms.
Westfield Co-op Nursery School, located on Elmer Street in Westfield, was one of the preschools at the fair.
“This is an important event because it provides an efficient way for the parents of young children to learn about pre-school resources in one place,” said the school's director, Suzanne Pinto. “It also allows for direct conversations with preschool directors and staff. We are always looking for opportunities to get the word out about our school. It has been in Westfield for 45 years and we are very proud of the WCNS. We believe that if people have a chance to speak to us and visit our school, they will learn about our philosophy and how we offer quality education for their youngsters.”
Diane Frusco, director of Redeemer Lutheran School located on Cowperthwaite Place in Westfield agreed. She spoke with guests about Redeemer's pre-K and kindergarten classes.
"The fair is a nice chance to see people and find out what they are looking for in a school,” said Frusco.
