WESTFIELD, NJ — The Tamaques Green Team (Donna Pizzi and Kirti Malik) hosted an Earth Day event April 22 to benefit the Canopy Project, an organization that plants trees in urban neighborhoods.  They built a six-foot-tall cardboard and newspaper tree with bare limbs that Tamaques Elementary students decorated with “leaf” envelopes they had made, each containing the child’s one-dollar donation.

“We collected over $250 to donate to the Canopy Project and the kids made a large and lovely canopy on our cardboard and paper tree with beautifully crafted leaves,” said Malik.
