Westfield Students'Art Selected for Corporate Display

Six Edison Intermediate School students were selected to showcase their art work at the Elizabethtown Gas Company in Union, NJ, in celebration of Youth Art Month. A special awards ceremony was held on March 24 to honor the Westfield students and recognize their unique artist talents.

Pictured from l-r are: Tahani Ahmed, Darika Lara-Rodriquez, Elaina Jones and Amanda Zhang.  Participating artists not shown in the photo are Shea Elliot and Elisha Israel. Members on a committee from the Art Educators of New Jersey (AENJ) made the final selections. The chosen Westfield pieces included four paintings, one pen and ink drawing, and one using colored pencil. 

The Edison Intermediate School artists are students of Alison Hooper and Helen Frees.

Condominiums Will Replace Lawnmower Shop in Clark

CLARK, NJ – A seven-unit condominium building will soon stand on the site of the Clark Power Equipment property at 1132 Westfield Ave.  The Clark planning board voted unanimously in favor of an application presented by Vincenzo Associates at its meeting Thursday night.

Officers Domanoski and Penn arrested Kenneth T. Oakes, age 39, of Scotch Plains, NJ, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a motor vehicle stop. Mr. Oakes was transported to WPD, processed and released with a summons.
