Westfield Teacher Coral Venturino Receives Philhower Award

WESTFIELD, NJ - On National Teachers’ Day, fourth grade teacher Coral Venturino was awarded the Rotary Club of Westfield 2014 Charles Philhower Fellowship Award before a Board of Education Meeting took place.

“I’m reeling with all the kind words I heard tonight and this past week,” said Venturino. “Thank you.”

The presentation was held on May 6 at the Wilson School, where Venturino teaches. Venturino has taught in the Westfield School District since 1990. She was was serenaded at the ceremony by her fourth grade class, which sang “I Think You’re Wonderful,” a song she usually sings to them.

"How lucky I am to be an elementary teacher and be renewed by their energy everyday,” said Venturino.

After the presentation there was cake, fruit salad, cookies and drinks offered by the wilson School PTO.
