Westfield Teachers Take on Harlem Wizards and Raise $10,000 for School and Charity

WESTFIELD, NJ — When Tamaques Elementary school staff and parents and Edison Intermediate School Principal Matthew Bolton took on the world-renowned show basketball team Harlem Wizards in front of a sold-out crowd May 29, they raised $10,000 for school facilities, the Paul Jackson Fund and the Tamaques Cares Fund, a new fund organized by the PTO be used solely to provide monetary help to local families in need on an ongoing basis

Sponsors included Hands of Life Martial Arts (platinum level) and Planet Honda (gold level). The event was organized by Tamaques PTO.

The audience witnessed amazing basketball talent combined with high-energy comedy. The athleticism, tricks, fancy teamwork and ball-handling wizardry and wild dunks of the Harlem Wizards are known to wow hoops fans of all ages. Audience participation played a key role.
