WESTFIELD, NJ — The Town of Westfield will commemorate the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, with a ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m. that day at the town’s September 11 Memorial, located at North Ave. and East Broad St. All are welcome. The ceremony will take place rain or shine.
Opening remarks by Mayor Andy Skibitsky will be followed by the pledge of allegiance, prayers of commemoration, presentation of a ceremonial wreath, “Taps,” and a silent reflection and show of community support.
Twelve Westfield residents lost their lives in the Sept. 11 attacks. The memorial was recently refurbished and a new panel was installed to replace the panel shattered by vandals this winter.
