Westfield Varsity Football Defeats Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 41-28

WESTFIELD, NJ -- The Westfield High School varsity football team defeated Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 41-28, Saturday afternoon in Westfield.

Westfield’s Eugene Rawles scored five touchdowns, racking up 114 receiving yards (on just two catches) and 113 rushing yards (on 17 carries). Kobe White scored three touchdowns with 131 yards on 22 carries for the Raiders.

“Each game we become more experienced,” said Raiders head coach Jonathon Stack. “No matter the outcome of today’s game, we are heading into the playoffs next week.”

The first two touchdowns came in the first quarter, both for Westfield. By the time halftime rolled around, the Blue Devils scored two more times and the Raiders scored once, with a touchdown by White. The score was, 27-7, at the half.

During the third quarter, Rawles scored once more, making the game, 34-7. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter when Scotch Plains-Fanwood scored three more touchdowns, one by Marquel Taylor, the other two by White. Westfield scored once more, with a touchdown by Jack Curry.
