WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield got over six inches of snow during the storm Dec. 14, according to Weather.com. Freezing rain that began Saturday evening created a crust of ice over the white stuff, making surfaces slick.
Westfield’s department of public works cleaned streets all during the storm and throughout the night, according to the town.
Some Sunday activities, including the Westfield Art Association’s meeting, were cancelled. Others, including the First Congregational Church’s services, were still on.
By afternoon, Downtown Westfield was filled with people braving large puddles of slush to do their shopping as ice melted from roofs and awnings.
