WESTFIELD, NJ — “Sitter,” a dark comedy produced by local residents, will premiere on Oct. 17 during Girls’ Night Out in Westfield at the Digiplex Rialto. Admission is free. The film is not recommended for children under 17.
Written and directed by Jennifer Harrison of Fanwood and starring Lainie Ventura of Scotch Plains, the short movie tracks the exploits of a woman so desperate to keep her babysitter that she’ll do just about anything. Already the script has won five awards.
“Jen and I are thrilled to be screening our film ‘Sitter’ in Westfield,” said Ventura. “We’ve had a huge outpouring of support not only from close friends and family but from local friends, shop owners and acquaintances. It was important to us to keep the production as close to home as possible. This allowed us to include our friends in the film and gave them the opportunity to see first-hand our work in progress.”
Locals may recognize Rudy’s Ristorante & Pizzeria in Garwood and The Law Offices of Methfessel & Werbel in Edison in the film. House interiors were shot in Ventura's own home.
“We are so grateful to everyone in our area,” said Harrison. “It is wonderful to be part of such a supportive community. We look forward to seeing everyone at the premiere and we hope to make a killing in the festivals!"
The Oct. 17 showing begins at 6 p.m. After the film, there will be a short Q and A session Harrison, Ventura and other actors from the movie.
