SPARTA, NJ – The weather is mucking up the schedule for a number of township projects, Sparta Township Manager Bill Close reported at the council meeting on Tuesday.
A drive through payment drop box is being installed in the lower parking lot at the municipal building. This will allow for people to make tax or utility payments without getting out of the car. Close said weather delays has held up the mason charged with doing the concrete work.
Close said a different contractor will be completing the job. Notification of the new facility will be included in the next tax bills. Close said the drop box came about after seeing seniors and others having difficulty navigating the entrance into the building. Senior residents also told Close bad weather makes it difficult to get inside according to the manager.
Municipal road paving has also been held up by the weather. West Mountain and Houses Corner Road are rescheduled to be paved on Saturday, August 18, Close said.
According to the township website Pleasant View Drive, Natasha Court, Stonebridge Road and Lake Shore Drive from Pleasant View to Lincoln South are scheduled to be microsurfaced on August 15.
Lake Shore Drive from Pleasant View to Lincoln North, Crystal Rock Road are scheduled for microsurfacing on August 16.
The Seneca Lake water tank painting project has been delayed by weather as well. Close said the tank has been stripped of the old paint inside and out. The new painting is expected to be done in the next two weeks and back on line by September.
