To the Editor:
If we require a vehicle operator to be licensed and owners to carry insurance coverage, is it unreasonable to ask the same of gun owners? After all, qualifications and training are needed to be a licensed vehicle operator and carrying insurance is the responsible thing to do and it's the law. While vehicles are a part of our lives, driving and car ownership are not without risk to human life and property, and needless to say the same can be said for guns. We continue to witness their role in senseless acts of mass murder and inadvertent deaths.
Our congressman, Rodney Frelinghuysen continues to remain silent on this issue as the Senate takes up the debate on how to safeguard our citizens from gun violence. As a senior member of the House of Representatives, it’s time for our congressman to stop defending the gun industry and take a stand on this vital issue, and please answer this question: what are you doing to protect the public from gun violence?
