WEST ORANGE, NJ - Students at Washington School received an early Christmas surprise from none other than Whoopi Goldberg, well-known actor, television and theater star. Most residents may not know that Goldberg resides in West Orange in Llewellyn Park.
Goldberg's business manager, Thomas Leonardis, along with groundskeeper Phil Fiore, lived in West Orange as children and were former students of Marie DiMaio, principal of Washington School.
The gingerbread house is a replica of Goldberg's home in Llewellyn Park, and is festively adorned with lights. It is currently on display outside the main office at Washington School.
Principal Marie was delighted to receive the gift on behalf of the school. She told The Alternative Press, "On Thursday, we received a gingerbread house from Whoopi Goldberg. It was magnificent with lights, and covers all winter holidays. The students and faculty were thrilled. We will try to preserve it for the future. This is a wonderful gift to the Washington students who really appreciate any act of kindness and generosity."
