To the Editor:

When someone runs for public office the focus of attention is often directed at “Political” activities or accomplishments and what he/she will do for you if you support their candidacy. The personal side of the individual often goes unrecognized or fully appreciated.

'Standards and values which are so all important, determine the character of the person who will represent you.

A close friendship with the Sullivan’s allows us to comment on their lovely family and emphasize what quality people Kevin and his wife are, and share with you our reasons.

The Sullivans are active, involved, caring people who share family and community values and have lived in Chatham Township for over 29 years. They are members of St. Patrick’s Church where they both have been very active and Kevin is presently Co-Chair of the Parish Council and a 3 rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.

He has coached track, soccer, basketball, cross country and flag football in both the Chatham Rec. and St. Pat’s athletic programs.

Upon graduation from The Pennsylvania State University as a ROTC scholarship recipient, Kevin was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps serving 6 years, attaining the rank of Captain. He served at stations all over the world, and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with a Gold Star.

In 2013, he was elected to the Township Committee, where he has served as Deputy Mayor and Mayor. As a colleague of Kevin’s on the committee, I have observed his leadership, his integrity, and his ability to listen to others. He is a man of action and his accomplishments prove so.

His commitment to our Town and to you is evidenced by his service on the Planning Board, Library Board of Trustees, Great Swamp Watershed Association Board of Trustees, Recreation Committee, and as Office of Emergency Management Coordinator.

We endorse Kevin for Township Committee because we appreciate the commitment he has always made to family, his community and to his country.

Your vote for Kevin on November 6 will ensure that his service to Township residents will continue to benefit us all.
