Will Montclair Be Voted North Jersey's 'Best Downtown'?

MONTCLAIR, NJ - In July, the public was invited to nominate their favorite downtown and Montclair was selected as a top-ten finalist.  Of the 10 finalists, three will be chosen to wear the title of ‘Best Downtown” for 2014.  The three will be selected with one from each North Jersey, Central Jersey and South Jersey town nominated.

People all over the globe have come to have a special affinity for Montclair Township. They brag about the restaurants, the rich arts community, historic places, schools, diversity, landmarks, parks, the Montclair Art Museum, Montclair State University and the list goes on. 

People everywhere now have an opportunity to vote for which neighborhoods they think have the best downtown area.

The American Planning Association’s New Jersey Chapter (APA-NJ) is asking the public to place their vote for their favorite downtown in the 2014 People’s Choice Awards. Of the North Jersey towns, Montclair Center, Downtown Jersey City, Hoboken, and Downtown Morristown were nominated.  In Central Jersey, Downtown Asbury Park, Downtown Red Bank and Downtown Somerville have been nominated. The South Jersey towns include Haddon Avenue in Collingswood, Glasstown Arts District in Millville and Asbury Avenue in Ocean City. 

The online poll will close on September 26 at midnight and participants may only vote once. Winners will be announced in early October, will receive a plaque and statewide recognition as the '2014 Best Downtown'.
