PATERSON, NJ - Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly added his condolences on the passing of US Representative Elijah Cummings.
Cummings, 67, who represented Maryland’s 7th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives, and served in many leadership positions in the chamber, since 1996 died Thursday.
In a statement Wimberly said:
“Representative Cummings was a tireless and timeless leader for not only Baltimore but for all communities across the nation. He inspired many to stand with him, including myself. He gave a voice to the voiceless and worked to lift up those who needed a hand. His legacy will live on in each of us and his passing leaves an immeasurable hole in Washington politics and in today’s fight for justice everywhere. We are blessed to have witnessed the rise of an extraordinary man and servant of the people.”
