Winter Storm Shuts Down Most of Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ — As snow falls steadily on Westfield Tuesday afternoon, a number of activities and services are cancelled. Meanwhile, the Westfield Police Department has asked that residents remove their vehicles from the roads to allow plows to do their work.  

The collection of recyclable materials in Westfield was delayed earlier today. Portions of Ward 2 where recycling was not collected is expected to be completed Wednesday, Jan. 22, weather permitting. If there are any questions, the town recommends contacting Giordano at 800-216-2250.

Union County has announced that Scotch Plains Police Headquarters at 430 Park Ave is open 24/7 as a warming center.

Closings and cancellations for Jan. 21 include:

Cancellation of all of Westfield School District’s after-school activities, as well as tonight’s Board of Education meeting.

Westfield Memorial Library will close at 4 p.m.

The Junior Woman’s Club of Westfield's 28th Annual Spelling Bee’s dates have been changed: 5th grade competition will be Jan. 27, 4th Grade Competition will be Jan. 28 and the final competition will be Jan. 29.

Get in Shape for Women in Westfield will be closed for the rest of the day, reopening for Wednesday's afternoon sessions and evening nutrition seminar.

Union County has announced that Trailside Nature & Science Center and the Warinanco Skating are closed for the remainder of the day.
