Winter Storm Watch for Westfield


WESTFIELD, NJ—The Westfield Police Department has sent out an alert via Nixle advising of a winter storm watch in effect for the area from 1 p.m. on Friday until 1 p.m. on Saturday. Heavy snow is anticipated and the Westfield PD will be enforcing snow emergency parking restrictions.

Parking on the following streets or the identified portions thereof is prohibited when snow has fallen:

- Central Ave (entire length);
- Clark St (between W Dudley Ave & Edgewood Ave);
- E Broad St (between Mountain Ave & N Euclid Ave);
- Prospect St (between E Broad St & E Dudley Ave);
- South Ave (between Westfield Ave & Central Ave);
- W Broad St (entire length)

Parking will remain prohibited until after the snow has ceased falling and the roads have been sufficiently plowed.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will likely begin to fall tomorrow after 3 a.m. A mix of snow and rain is expected to continue until tomorrow evening, when up to seven inches of new snow accumulation is possible.

Wind gusts of over 40 miles-per-hour are anticipated during the height of the storm on Friday evening.
