WESTFIELD, NJ – With a mix of snow and freezing rain in the works for the Union County area, Westfield Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, the district announced.

The National Weather Service predicted up to 5 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice to form overnight into Tuesday.

“Plan on slippery road conditions and a long period of snow, sleet, and freezing rain,” the Weather Service said. “The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.”

After 8 p.m. Tuesday, precipitation is anticipated to turn into rain, the Weather Service said.
