MADISON, NJ - Six weeks ago, the Madison High School Interact Club started a free food donation pickup service to help support the local food pantry at the First Baptist Church of Madison and address local food insecurity.
As of last Saturday, 9/19, the Club has signed up 68 generous Madison families who donate a bag of food every other week. The group has now delivered over 200 bags to the food pantry, said organizers.
"The Madison Ends Hunger program has been a fantastic experience in making a difference in our community", said Mary Ragold, one of the Interact Club members. There are many families that are in need of providing food for themselves and this club has fulfilled that need. This has been my first year getting involved in it by picking up food donations from families who have volunteered throughout Madison. Even though I am just driving door to door and dropping all of the food collected at the Baptist church, I feel like I am doing something charitable and considerate with my time.
"It has been a privilege to meet people who all have a goal: helping those who need it the most and being appreciative for all that we have been given", continued Ragold. "As this program has continued to be successful in its mission, it has inspired me to give more of myself for others, making a great difference in their lives. "
