PLAINFIELD, NJ - Masjidullah Plainfield is planning to hold a Women's History Month event, entitled Overcoming Obstacles to Success, with donations benefiting its community soup kitchen that serves up to sixty people each week.

The Muslim Community Soup Kitchen was started in 1989 by eight members of Masjidullah to feed the hungry, and the organization was incorporated as a not-for-profit in 1997.  With its non-profit status, the soup kitchen qualifies for membership in the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.  Additional donations are made by Costco and the American Muslims For Hunger Relief (AMFHR), among others.

Speakers at Sunday's event will include Assemblywoman Linda S. Carter (LD 22), Union County Freeholder Rebecca Williams, and Neighborhood House Association CEO Carol A. Presley.
