WOODLAND PARK, NJ - The Borough is mourning the loss of Ann DeCesare, 88, who passed away on March 9.
Ann served as a crossing guard in Woodland Park for 47 years and was a police matron as well, receiving that certification in 1993.
"Annie was tough as nails, didn’t mince words and had a heart of gold," said Woodland Park Police Chief Eileen Tiernan. "She grew up in Hells Kitchen in New York City. She didn’t have it easy. Annie didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear, like a lot of people do today, she told you what you needed to hear."
Ann had also served as a hall monitor and member of the kitchen staff at Passaic Valley High School, an usherette on Broadway in New York, and a bookbinder at The Book Warehouse in Totowa.
Wife of the late Emil DeCesare, Ann was mother of Mary Ann Luker, the late Daniel Glogovics, Donald DeCesare and his wife Tammy, Dwayne DeCesare and his wife Patricia, Daryl DeCesare and his wife Linda, Douglas DeCesare and Ricardo and Dennis K. DeCesare. Ann is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were handed by Santangelo Funeral Home.
