NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Elijah's Promise, which began as a food pantry and expanded into a culinary school prepare food service workers for jobs, will now host a workshop for people planning to start their own business.
The free session will be Oct. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the food training school, 211 Livingston Ave.
Elijah's Promise is presenting the program along with the UCEDC, a statewide nonprofit economic development corporation.
Ed Ramirez, a training officer with UCEDC with 20 years of experience assisting small business owners, will lead the program.
Ramierz will give information about the traits needed to start a business, and how peoplel can identify their strengths and weaknesses and how that applies to business ownership.
Participants will also be shown how to access to opportunities for their business plans in their target market, and how to conduct market research, create a business plan and make financial projections.
