Audience: Comedy Tonight is intended for an adult audience, but content should be generally appropriate for all ages.
Technical specs: Comedy Tonight is a black-box style production. Each sketch group is its own crew as well. >Lights up/lights down >No sound effects (there will be transitional music between sketches, but no sound cues within the sketches themselves) >Props are carry on/carry off >Set pieces (chairs, tables, etc.) are carry on/carry off >Costumes are the responsibility of each sketch group (but talk to the producer if you have costume needs)
Timeline: All submissions must be received by July 30, 2014. You will be notified of acceptance/rejection within a week of submission.
If your sketch is selected, you are then responsible for casting it, rehearsing it, and directing it. The amount of rehearsal needed is up to you. The Strollers’ producer, Dena Daniel, will check in with you regularly to gauge your progress and offer what help she can, as needed.
Sketches should be ready to perform by Sept. 14-18 (tech week). All groups will get time to rehearse on stage during tech week, though not necessarily every night. The producer will schedule your tech week rehearsal(s) closer to that time.
Depending on the number of successful submissions, sketch groups should be prepared to perform at one, two, or all three Comedy Tonight performances. Groups must be willing to perform any or all of the performances.
