LIVINGSTON, NJ - The Youth Appreciation Week Committee, in association with the West Essex YMCA, is hosting a grand celebration of Livingston’s diversity called, “YAW Diversity Festival at the West Essex Y,” on Thursday, May 22, from 5 to 9:00 p.m. at the YMCA. The free event is open to all--not just Livingston residents, or Y members.
There will be live music and cultural performances, an International Fashion Show and food samples from around the world. The event will celebrate many cultures, interests and most of all “unity as a community.”
Right now, the committee needs volunteers. There are several ways that children, adults and even families can participate in this town-wide event including the following:
- Be an International Fashion Show Model: Bring siblings and friends—no experience is necessary.
- Present a Cultural Performance: Contact the committee and let them know the details of your musical, dance or entertainment performance.
- Host a Country Display Table with Food: If you are interested in hosting a country, all you will need is a few items and/or some sample food from the country you will be representing.
- Not sure what you would like to do? Contact the committee, and they will discuss the many opportunities that are available.
Those interested in participating should call: 973-992-7500 or 862-485-4766 or send an email to: Cheryl Francione firstname.lastname@example.org; Chitra Maridi email@example.com, or Brian Weller firstname.lastname@example.org.
