Registration is now open for this family friendly event on Sunday, June 2 that includes a USATF certified 10K and a 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk.
On June 2, the YMCA of Montclair and the Montclair Recreation Department will host the 37th Montclair Run. The event is a great way for individuals, families and runners of all abilities to support an active lifestyle while giving back to the community.
“The Montclair Run has such a community feel to it,” says Pat Brechka, the Montclair Recreation Department Director and race co-director. “It’s great to see runners and volunteers come back every year. This year, we have switched up the order of the races and there are new start times. Now, the 10K runners will race first at 8am, followed by the 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk at 10am. We made these changes because the longer distance runners have been requesting an earlier race start. It’s also to allow time for families to complete the race with their little ones and not have to be up so early. This year we are also sanctioned by USATF and featured in the Grand Prix so runners can earn points for competing.”
The traditions of the Montclair Run will continue next year, but without Brechka, who is retiring from the Montclair Recreation Department on July 1.
“The contributions to scholarships that Pat Brechka has helped realize through the Montclair Run are measurable in dollars yet her contributions to the community are immeasurable,” said Buddy Evans, President & CEO of the YMCA of Montclair. “We will miss her greatly.”
All runners must register online by June 1 at 2pm at runsignup.com/Race/NJ/Montclair/TheMontclairRun
Price increases after May 24.
