YMCA Send a Kid to Camp Charity Golf Classic Set for June 10

April 20, 2014 at 6:55 AM

EDISON, NJ – The YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge & South Amboy (YMCA OF MEWSA) will host the 10th Annual Richard Hale Memorial YMCA Charity Golf Classic at the Metuchen Golf and Country Club of Edison, on June 10.

While the golf outing has become an annual event, the work that it supports is far from ordinary. The annual Hale Golf Outing provides much needed scholarship assistance to those in the community that would otherwise be unable to benefit from the wonderful experience of YMCA Summer Day Camp.

Proceeds from this year’s outing will support the Send A Kid to Camp Program, the single largest scholarship assistant program provided by the YMCA of MEWSA to the children and families in our community each summer.

For the past two years, close to $100,000 was provided in camp scholarship assistance, ensuring that almost 200 children could experience the YMCA Summer Day Camp.

It is through golf outing sponsorship dollars that the YMCA of MEWSA continues to support this important program. The committee members are hard at work in their communities to encourage support through sponsorship and participation.

The community is invited to attend a day of fun and fellowship in support of the ongoing mission to develop our youth, promote healthy living and encourage social responsibility.

The golf package cost is $250.00 per person and includes lunch, round of golf, cocktails, light dinner and short program. Many sponsorship opportunities are available.

For more information on supporting the golf outing through sponsorship or joining us on the golf course, please contact Katie McAdoo, Association Advancement katie.mcadoo@ymcaofmewsa.org  or at 848-702-2276.

Three Sisters, Three Queens by Philippa Gregory

Three Sisters, Three Queens by Philiippa Gregory (Touchstone of Simon and Schuster, 2016)

When one reads an historical novel by Philippa Gregory, s/he is transported magically through the power of words to that era. Given the turbulence of the recent political scene in America, returning once again to the complicated and violent Tudor reign helped me to escape the ugliness of the ...

Beckerman’s Theory of Everything

This all-encompassing theory would tie together general relativity (large scale and high mass galaxies, stars, etc), quantum theory (quantum mechanics, quarks, atoms, subatomic particles), and Newtonian physics (gravity on small bodies, gas laws, electromagnetism) to ...

‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales' Captures Old-Fashioned Nostalgia at Shakespeare Theatre

MADISON, NJ – It’s clear the Welsh love to sing as the evening moves on with relatives gathering for Christmas dinner at the Thomas home in Wales.

The play opens with three children and then a chorus singing “In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,” a melancholy tune that conjures visions of Swansea, a village in Wales,  with “fallen snow on ...
