BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Festivities to celebrate Yogoccino’s first birthday kicked off early on Saturday, Aug. 24, where they held an all-day anniversary party that was open to all who wanted to attend.
The day began with an early morning half-priced pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. That was followed by the Gamin' Ride truck and face-painting, which ran from noon to 2:00 p.m. The Gamin' Ride truck in particular was a big hit amongst children of all ages, who absolutely loved playing the game ‘Just Dance.’ The biggest turnout of the day came during 3 to p.m., when Yogoccino held its $1 Yogurt and $1 Topping special.
The local band Zodiac closed out the evening with a one-hour live show from 5 to 6 p.m. performing a variety of covers ranging from classic rock to more contemporary pop songs. Jack Melillo, drummer and singer, said, "We are all glad to be here. The owner welcomed us to play some songs to celebrate Yogoccino's first anniversary."
Melillo, Jacob Lesser and Lucas Mammone, all soon-to-be sixth-graders from Long Hill township, have been playing together for a year. These musicians have the musical influence of Melillo’s father, John Melillo, a New York City music producer.
Lucas Mammone, guitar player and singer for Zodiac, said, "This is definitely the most fun event we've ever played." Jacob Lesser, lead singer and guitar/ukulele player for the band, added, "We couldn't be more happy to be here on such a beautiful day for the anniversary."
Yogoccino’s owners, Stephen DeMaria and Steven Guastamacchia, pride themselves on their large selection of 24 yogurt flavor options and more than 50 toppings, state-of-the-art equipment, impeccable cleanliness and the decorative detail throughout the restaurant.
