SPARTA, NJ-Three young performers from Sparta, Elizabeth, Matthew and Jonathan Enriquez took first place in International Crescendo Music Competition, and the Honorable Mention Award in prestigious American Protégé earlier this year for their violin and cello trio performance.
As the winners, they will be performing music selection at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June and November of this year, along with the musicians from Europe and Asia.
Jonathan is a fifth grade student at Helen Morgan School. Matthew and Elizabeth are third grader student at the Alpine School in Sparta. The three, although young, are accomplished musicians.
Elizabeth, Matthew and Jonathan are students of Dawn Tedesco, a music teacher and the director of Sussex County Youth Orchestra.
The trio are all members of Sussex County Youth Orchestra where they play violin and cello. They also study piano performance with Debbie Cafferata of Sparta. Elizabeth's musical talents were recognized when she won a second place in piano performance in International Little Mozart Competition in year 2013. In addition, Jonathan plays the trumpet and is a member of the Helen Morgan School Band.
The children said they look forward to performing together in Carnegie Hall as well as venues across the Sussex County.
