PATERSON, NJ- Calling her an “ardent voice and champion of Paterson’s children,” the Girls Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ), the Paterson Alliance, and the United Way of Passaic County held a “welcome reception” in honor of Paterson Superintendent Eileen Shafer last month.

Betty Garger, CEO, GSNNJ, said that they were “honored” to recognize Shafer and that the event was opportunity for her to share her vision for Paterson’s schools, and to offer her thoughts on how the community can support local children. In addition to presenting Shafer with a proclamation signed by all of the attendees at the reception, Garger also signaled GSNNJ’s intent to aide in efforts to provide the city’s nearly 30,000 students the best education possible.

“As a youth-serving organization,” Garger said, “we want to offer our support in helping all children reach their full potential.”
