April 16, 2014 at 3:35 PM

CHATHAM, NJ -  Freeholder Hank Lyon, chairman of the Morris County  budget committee, addressed the Borough of Chatham Council Tuesday on the 2014 county budget, which stayed flat at a zero percent increase for the second straight year.

Lyon said that the Morris County Budget, adopted on April 9, did not increase for the second straight year after previously rising for 15 straight years. The budget includes a $1.2 million reduction in the open space tac while preserving all aspects of the program.

The budget also represents total spending that is below 2012 figures and represents $8.3 million in debt reduction. The plan is to reduce the debt by $64 million over five years.
