Zounds Hearing in Westfield announces it is working with both the Westfield and Mountainside Lions Clubs to supply refurbished hearing aids to those in need. Every used hearing aid customers turn in when purchasing new devices will go to the Lions Club, and is eligible for a store credit of up to $1,000.
The Lions Club sends hearing aids received under its “Lend Us Your Ear” program to the Katzenbach School for the Deaf in Trenton, N.J., where they are cleaned and sanitized, repaired if necessary, and have their prescriptions read before being sent to new users overseas. Nationally, Zounds stores have provided $800,000 worth of hearing aids through 2013.
“The Lions Club Sight and Hearing Foundation is the perfect conduit for us to give something back,” says Dave Ratzker, owner of Zounds Hearing-Westfield. “We’re expert in fitting customers with hearing aids that will improve their lives, and they have expertise in getting them into the hands of those who desperately need them, but cannot afford them.”
Ratzker notes that it’s a win-win for all involved, as customers looking for an upgrade can save by turning in their old hearing aids.
