Introducing Cedar Grove Council Candidate, Joseph Maceri:
As a trustee for Essex County College, a former councilman, coach, and community leader and volunteer, Joseph Maceri has a record of getting the job done for his community. Joe is currently a member of the Finance Committee of Essex County College, a committee responsible of managing an annual budget of approximately $56,000,000. He also serves on the Essex County College Policy and Governance Committee and the Personnel Committee, as well as the local Cedar Grove Environmental Commission.
His board experience also includes positions with Open Space Committee, Regional Flood Board Committee, and chairman of Domestic Violence Committee. As a practicing attorney, he has spent over 16 years protecting victims of domestic violence. Joe is a member of Cedar Grove Unico for over ten years and has also served as their Vice President and General Counsel.
Joe met his wife, Josephine, in fourth grade and they have been married since 2002. They have two sons, Matthew and Michael who have been enrolled in Saint Catherine of Siena School since PreK 3. Both boys are soccer players for the United States Developmental Academy. In addition to being a “soccer family,” Joe and his family have been parishioners of Saint Catherine’s Church for over 13 years and are active members of the school and church community.
Joe received his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University, College of Law, and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from William Paterson University. Immediately after graduation, Joe served as a judicial law clerk for the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County Vicinage. Thereafter, Joe entered private practice and is currently a partner of the prestigious law firm of Snyder Sarno D’Aniello Maceri da Costa, LLC, managing the firm’s Bergen County office. The law firm also has offices in Essex and Somerset County.
Joe has received many top honors and recognitions for his professional and civic work, including but not limited to “Who’s Who among Italian American Professionals for his outstanding service to the community” and “top 40 under 40 from NJBIZ as one of most accomplished young professionals in New Jersey.” For the past twenty years, Joe has volunteered and worked to improve his community.
Joe is looking to bring his vast experience to Cedar Grove Town Council to: PROTECT Cedar Grove tax dollars; STAND UP to developers to prevent overdevelopment in Cedar Grove; FIGHT for shared services to save the township money; INVEST in the Cedar Grove Community; and SUPPORT the revitalization of the downtown business district.
