With the first week of school coming to a close, one thing I have heard from all my children’s teachers (even in years past) is that we are a team and need to work together and communicate to help our children grow and succeed. It is wonderful that the teachers within the district see us, the parents and guardians, as partners in our children’s educational journey.

However, communication is not just important for the growth of the children within the district, but for everyone.

Working in communications, we always say to be transparent, share the facts and if you don’t know an answer or are gathering more information just say that. It is when you provide limited information, people will then start to draw their own conclusions. The more open and forthcoming one is with information, the more people will know you are working for the greater good, that you care and that you are hearing the concerns of the community.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

It is through this communication that one is engaging and building relationships with key stakeholders…the people of Sparta.

As I said in my Board of Education candidate introduction, going forward we need to find ways to better inform the parents and community about what is being done within the district regardless of how big or small it may seem.

I am running for Sparta’s Board of Education with Kim Bragg and Kurt Morris.  Please follow our Facebook page.  We are #3, #4, and #5 on the ballot
