My name is Alan Yeung. I graduated as the Class of 2020 valedictorian from Sparta High School. As a remote student like many, I have a unique opportunity this year to effect positive change in the Sparta Township School District by filling the vacant one-year position on the Sparta Board of Education. I’m seeking your vote.
As a student who went through the entirety of the Sparta public school system, I have seen and directly felt the successes and downfalls of policy enacted by the Board of Education. I strived to be the best and seize every opportunity, but there was frequent frustration by the lack of connections and support for students seeking to gain career experience. I intend to put more efforts into expanding Sparta’s notoriety as a strong benefactor of STEM students as well as arts students by increasing awareness of and resources for internships, scholarships, and awards.
I believe that it is essential for students to have a voice in critical budgetary and policy issues regarding the future of the school district. The students, especially at Sparta High School, have felt the frustrations of a superintendent that did not understand the Spartan culture and us students. I understand the importance of hiring a superintendent that will uphold policies that make Sparta a high achieving district and hiring one who is receptive to constructive criticism from parents, faculty, and especially students.
Please write in Alan Yeung for Membership to the Sparta Board of Education One Year Unexpired Term on your ballot.
Thank you for your support!
