The chamber is off and running, full speed ahead into the new year with new and exciting plans.
We had a successful Business Social Empowerment Seminar on Jan. 23 at the IBM campus. Guest speaker Barry P. Mitchell Jr. of UBS Financial Services informed us about “all things retirement.” All who attended agreed that it was an informative and valuable presentation.
Our next Business Social Empowerment Seminar will take place on Feb. 20, at The Winery at St. George. The guest speaker will be Ann Buscaglia, tax partner at PKF O’Connor Davies.
Don’t get caught by surprise with the new, stricter tax regulations that now affect every business, including yours. You’ll hear critical advice on how to avoid painstaking IRS audits and hefty fines from one of the Hudson Valley’s leading tax experts who has more than 20 years of experience. Look for our announcements and call the office for additional information about this event.
Recently, we held our Jilco/Chamber of Commerce Lifestyles & Family Show, which took place on Feb. 9, at the Jefferson Valley Mall. This year, we once again partnered with Habitat for Humanity, a not-for-profit organization devoted to building homes for low-income families.
Our second Annual SpringFest will take place on Saturday, April 13, at the Yorktown Firehouse Carnival Grounds. It will give all a chance to “shake off those winter blues” with a celebration of spring. Come and enjoy live music by great bands, enjoy a variety of foods from all over the county, wine and craft beer, a silent auction and children’s activities and rides. Please call the office or go on our website for vendor spaces and sponsorship opportunities. A portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
I would like at this time to thank the 2019 sponsors for supporting the goals of the chamber:

The board of this organization, whose members volunteer their time and effort, is one of our most valuable assets and we so appreciate each and every one of them. It takes people willing to devote their time and energy to make our organization better. There is a lot to do and we need your help. I am always here to help you promote your business and listen to new ideas.
