For all skeptics and concerned parents and teachers… please take a serious look at the new publication by Susan Poage, Dina Rosen and gifted illustrator Benjamin Chew! The title Protecting You… Protecting Me, invited me to see just how this timely topic was being addressed. Not only was I, a born skeptic, pleasantly surprised by how creatively the sensitive message was visually portrayed, but each page showed a vibrant visual and illustrative portrayal of what our children likely feel at this time of ultra careful health concerns for all.
The narrative is written from a child’s point of view as he/she attempts to cope with understanding why all of a sudden every day is a “Halloween” of sorts. As mom tries to lovingly provide support and compliance by ordering a delivery of colorful masks , even a Superman logo just doesn’t cut it !
Here is where the authors skill and the gifted, young illustrators genius converge … after sweet cajoling the conclusion is that people CAN communicate in many ways and our eyes can speak clearly when words may be muffled.
This empowering idea is easily understood if the book is used as a read aloud for very young children. Further, the clever colors and engaging dancing fonts are perfect for other young readers to enjoy on an entirely different level (as with rhebus stories). This new topic has far-reaching impact on our little ones and this book is a new and valuable resource …don’t miss it!
Do our children a favor let this be a new and valuable part of your home and school library.
