A Salute to Excellent Teachers

February 4, 2013 at 10:16 AM

I would like to take this moment to give honorable mentions to all excellent educators. One of those excellent educators is Mr. Gilman Choudhury.  In my opinion, he exemplifies the true meaning of being an excellent educator. His selfless work with his students as well as all the students in the district makes it easy to see why he is so respected in the school community.

This past Wednesday, I had the honor and privilege to greet one his most successful students, Mr. Mazher Misbah. I was particularly impressed with the speech he sent me. I was proud to hear of his accomplishments and all of the work he's done for the community. He was instrumental in assisting a number of residents effected by Hurricane Sandy. He's a real community servant.

I feel more than confident in saying that Mazher has an extremely bright future ahead of him. I can tell that he's serious about everything he sets his mind to do. It appears that he has a very supportive family that'll do whatever they can to help him achieve every goal he desires out of life. It is true that having a strong support structure is essential to a child's academic success in life.

But again, none of this could have happened without an excellent educator in his life to guide him in the right direction. That's why it is Imperative that we show RESPECT to all of our educators. I can only imagine the tasks that await each teacher, each day. I imagine that it's all but easy to get things in order just as you wish, but excellent educators make the best with what that have.

Today's thought would be to find your child's excellent educator and salute them for all of the hard work they do on a daily basis. Do your best to make clear the level of appreciation you have. By doing this, it proves to all the educators that their work is not in vain. Everyone deserves to be validated, and loved, and above all, respected. Teachers are no different, they are human too!

This is my first letter for the month of February. As such, I trust each of you will have a blessed month to come. I hope you are able to achieve all the goals you set out to accomplish.

All the best,

Corey L. Teague

My Epic Beauty Fails

One day as I was looking around a high-end cosmetics store for a new lipstick, a “beauty expert” approached me and said that I was so stunning I should forget the lipstick, and get a lip plumper instead. At first I wondered why I needed a lip plumper if I was already so stunning. But then I thought, “Now here is someone wearing a badge that says, ‘beauty expert,’ so ...
