To the Editor:

This year, Bridgewater voters have the opportunity to select members to the Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education.  This is an important election for our town, and I hope you will join me in casting your ballots for Barry Walker in Column 1 and John-Paul (“JP”) Levin in Column 4.  I believe that Barry and JP are the two best candidates to move our district forward and provide the highest quality education for our children, act in a fiscally responsible manner with our tax dollars, and to provide a safe, secure and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and administration.  Jean Lee, who is running unopposed for a one-year unexpired term, is also worthy of your support.

As the father of a second-grader and a first-grader, I know the importance of providing a quality and comprehensive education for our children.  We rely upon our board of education members to make critical decisions that will impact our children for the rest of their lives.  In addition, the decisions of board members have a greater impact on the local taxes we pay and the affordability of our township than any other government entity, and we need Board members who can balance these needs for our entire community.

Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.

Barry has served on the board for the past six years.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board. He approaches each issue in a thoughtful, open manner which encourages dialogue, discussion, and consensus.  He understands the district’s budget and the impact that the budget has on Bridgewater’s taxpayers, and he is no stranger to making the tough decisions necessary to provide for allocation of resources to our kids.  Our community will be well served by Barry’s continued service.

JP will bring a fresh perspective on the board that will help lead the district into the future.  With our district currently searching for a new superintendent, facing the hardships of COVID-19, and looking to the challenges on the horizon in the next decade, JP’s knowledge, energy and passion will balance out the board.  JP also understand the importance of facilities, wellness, athletics and extracurriculars, which enhance our students’ learning experience.  JP has previous experience as an elected official in Bound Brook and understands public service.

Let’s join together to ensure the highest quality education for our children.  Let’s ensure our board acts with fiscal prudence and in a responsible manner.  And let’s make sure our children have a safe, secure, and health environment in which to learn, grow, and become the leaders of the future.

Please vote Barry Walker in Column 1 and John-Paul (“JP”) Levin in Column 4.
