On the Fiscal Cliff and Education Funding

November 18, 2012 at 4:43 PM

I wish to publish my personal thoughts about the possible impending fiscal cliff and the current debates happening in Congress.

My greatest concern is the effects it could have on our already severely stressed educational budget.

New Jersey school districts, especially Paterson Public Schools, have already suffered a tremendous series of cuts under the Christie Administration.

If Congress fails to reach a sustainable agreement by Jan. 1 we could face  billions more in cuts to education on a national scale.

Paterson: I urge you to write to your member of Congress, Mr. Bill Pascrell, and ask him to fight any attempts in Congress to further cut needed funds from Paterson's students. Please!

We have already witnessed many our much needed programs get slashed because of the lack of funding. We have witnessed the dastardly effects its had on our children.

In my honest opinion, we cannot afford to lose anything else. I need at least 200 parents to stand with me to demand our government to leave education funding off the slashing table!

As a parent, who's children go to public school in Paterson, I'm deeply troubled by what could transpire over the coming days in congress. Let's not pretend like everything's OK - it's not.

I stand in solidarity with all the parents demanding that their children be provided the best educational experience possible.

However, we must understand That the type of education we want and they deserve can't happen without the proper funding. Its time to fight for our children like never before!

Sincerely,

Corey L. Teague

My Epic Beauty Fails

One day as I was looking around a high-end cosmetics store for a new lipstick, a “beauty expert” approached me and said that I was so stunning I should forget the lipstick, and get a lip plumper instead. At first I wondered why I needed a lip plumper if I was already so stunning. But then I thought, “Now here is someone wearing a badge that says, ‘beauty expert,’ so ...
