The Scotch-Plains Fanwood Ministerium reaches out to our Muslim siblings in this time of pain and sorrow.
We hope for the day when our entire world will be safe, but we imagine that our houses of worship, especially at the times of holy gatherings, are always a place of sanctuary and security.
We pray for the peace of the members of the Muslim community of Christchurch, New Zealand, for their friends and family, for all those in pain at this tragedy. We come together as a ministerium to bring together the diverse elements of our community to foster understanding and community. We stand firmly against hate; against the idea that bringing down another is a way to lift oneself up.
Only by frank communication and a loving reaching out can we create the community that we imagine - here in Fanwood and Scotch Plains, in the United States, or across the world.
May we seek after peace; may we foster peace; may we find peace for ourselves and others.
