First, I would like to thank everyone that took the time out of their schedules to vote in this important election, whether you supported my candidacy for the SOMA School Board or not. The first step towards making a change in our schools, and our communities, is by exercising one’s right to vote.

Second, I would like to congratulate the winners of the hard-fought campaign. Please, however remember the issues that were discussed during the campaign at the debates and forums that we all attended, and the common theme was the residents of our towns are looking for change and would like to see more accountability, transparency and communication from the members of the Board of Education.

I will remain dedicated to this community, to the school district as well as to our students. I would like to ensure that our community breaks down all barriers — race, religious, sexuality, disability, etc. Our schools and our community members should be all-inclusive, tolerant and respectful of our differences. Our goal should be to maximize everyone’s potential in a comfortable environment which values and appreciates these differences.
