I would like to thank the Bayonne High School, Class of 1983, for their support. My daughter, a student at Chatham High School, was collecting hats and gloves through her Key Club. The items are to be distributed this coming weekend as holiday gifts, to those in need, through the Saint John's Soup Kitchen in Newark. This soup kitchen serves close to 300 men, women, and children daily.
On November 24, the Class of '83 had their 35th reunion at the Knights of Columbus, Bayonne. A couple of weeks before the reunion, I asked Mike Veverka, Sr., our former class president, if we could ask our former classmates if they would consider supporting this cause by making a donation. Mike was more than happy to organize this effort with former classmate and reunion organizer, Judith Levine.
My Class of '83, thank you. We raised 150 holiday gifts through your generosity. A special thanks to Danny Vitone, and Jill Slansky Conroy for your combined total of 45 donated items. This holiday season, you helped to keep a lot of people a bit warmer. As always, my heartfelt gratitude to Mike and Judith for organizing all our reunions over the years, and for your kindness.
