Bipolar Disorder is Topic of Special Program

RARITAN TWP., NJ - Hunterdon Behavioral Health Intensive Family Support Services will be holding a special program on Tuesday, July 10 called Exploring Bipolar Disorder.

The program will be held from 6:30  to 8 p.m. in Meeting Room C at Hunterdon Medical Center, located just off Route 31 at 2100 Wescott Drive here.

Attendees will learn about the etiology of Bipolar Disorder. Whether diagnosed or caring about a loved one or friend, they’ll discover information that can be helpful in the understanding of thedisorder and improve treatment outcomes.

Resources will be provided. The program will be led by Melissa Weisel, MSW, LCSW, a Psychotherapist with Hunterdon Behavioral Health.

Intensive Family Support Services assists families in their understanding of psychiatric disorders and the effects upon family life. Their goal is to form a collaborative, therapeutic alliance with families so that they can increase their knowledge, as well as coping and communication skills. IFSS consults with families about their individual needs. The counselors work with families to reduce isolation, stigma, and increase their understanding of mental illness. IFSS is crucial to families so that they do not feel overwhelmed during a time of crisis.
