FLEMINGTON, NJ – Another state corrections officer has pled guilty to charges related to sexual behavior at Edna Mahan women’s prison.

The prison, located in Union Township, is the state’s only women’s prison.

Ahnwar Dixon, who worked as a Senior Corrections Officer at the prison, pled guilty to three counts of second-degree official misconduct related to his job at the prison, according to a press release today from Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III.

“Dixon admitted to sexual contact with three separate female inmates for his own sexual gratification,” Kearns said in the statement. Each count carries a maximum 10-year prison term, he said.

Dixon is expected to be sentenced by Judge Angela F. Borkowski on Sept. 14.

Dixon marks the fourth worker at the prison to be convicted over the last few years of official misconduct in relation to sexual offenses against female inmates.

In May, Senior Correction Officer Jason Mays was convicted by a jury of sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, official misconduct and pattern of official misconduct following a six-week trial. His sentence is pending.

Last year, Senior Corrections Officer Thomas Seguine and Institutional Trade Instructor Joel Herscap both pled guilty to official misconduct. They have already been sentenced.

“Dixon’s guilty plea comes on the heels of a jury convicting a fellow Corrections Officer for crimes based on sexual conduct with inmates,” Kearns said. “As a society, we hold Corrections Officers to the same high standard that we hold all public officials.”
