Dayton Girls Tennis Beats Hasbrouck Heights in First Round of NJSIAA Section 2, Group 1 Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – Jonathan Dayton girls tennis team won their first round match in the NJSIAA Tournament for Section 2, Group 1.  They beat Hasbrouck Heights 5-0. 

All singles players won their matches in two sets.  Senior Fabiana Suarez won 6-.0, 6-0.  Senior Melanie Schickler also won 6-0, 6-0.  Sophomore Jordyn Engel won 6+-0, 6-1.

First doubles senior Zoe Frei and junior Sheila Flood won in two sets – 6-2, 7-5.  The second doubles team of junior Elisa Neri and senior Jessica Steir had to come back and win the third set tie breader 10-8.  The score of the first two sets was 6-4, 2-6.

Dayton was seeded seventh in the tournament and plays at second seed Verona on Monday at 4:00 p.m.  Verona beat 15th seed Weequahic.
