MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Maplewood Police Department reports on car break-ins, package thefts and shoplifting incidents that happened at the end of June and beginning of July.

June 24, 2019. Theft from motor vehicle: Between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., an unsecured vehicle parked on North Terrace was entered and a wallet was stolen.

June 27, 2019. Package theft: A package theft was reported that occurred on 44th Street on June 12.

June 28, 2019. Theft from motor vehicle: During the overnight hours an unsecured vehicle parked on Hudson Avenue was entered and a wallet was stolen.

June 30, 2019. Shoplifting: At approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to the Dollar Tree on Springfield Ave on a report of a male concealing merchandise inside a duffel bag. Upon their arrival, they located the male, Timothy Jenkins, 53, of Newark. He was taken into custody and charged with shoplifting.

July 1, 2019. Theft from motor vehicle: During the overnight hours, an unsecured vehicle parked on South Pierson Road was entered into and documents were stolen.

July 1, 2019. Theft from motor vehicle: During the overnight hours, an unsecured vehicle parked on Richmond Avenue was entered into and change was stolen.

July 1, 2019. Bicycle thefts: At approximately 3:30 p.m., several juveniles were stopped after being observed stealing a bicycle from North Terrace.

The Maplewood Police Department is telling residents to properly secure their vehicles and homes at all times.
