At approximately 1:45 am on June 27th, 2019, Officer Matt Belcastro arrested
Samantha Grindlinger, age 38 from Mountainside, New Jersey and charged her with driving while intoxicated.
Officer Belcastro observed the vehicle driven by Ms. Grindlinger fail to stop for a red light so he initiated a motor vehicle stop. While speaking with Ms. Grindlinger, the officer detected the odor of alcohol and had her perform a series of field balance tests. Upon completion of the tests, and other observations, Ms. Grindlinger was taken into custody. She was transported to the Madison Police Department and administered a breath test. Ms. Grindlinger was then transported to the Chatham Borough Police Department for further processing.
She was issued traffic tickets for driving while under the influence, reckless driving,
failure to maintain traffic lane, failure to stop for a red light and having no current
insurance card in her possession. Ms. Grindlinger was later released into the care of a friend pending a court appearance.
All persons charged with an offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
