CHATHAM, NJ - At approximately 5:35 p.m. on August 2nd, 2019, Officer Howard Craig arrested Deborah Seiden, age 43 from Livingston, New Jersey and charged her with driving while under the influence.
Officer Craig and Sergeant Wayne Shivers were investigating a motor vehicle crash on North Passaic Avenue. While interviewing Ms. Seiden, Officer Craig made several observations and requested that she perform some field balance tests. Upon completion of the tests, Ms. Seiden was taken into custody and transported to the Madison Police Department.
She was administered a breath test and then transported to the Chatham Borough Police Department to complete her processing. In addition to the driving while intoxicated charge, Ms. Seiden was issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to keep to the right side of the roadway and reckless driving. She was also charged with assault by an automobile. She was later released into the care of a family member pending a court appearance.
The driver of the other vehicle was examined by members of the Chatham Emergency Squad but refused any further medical attention.
All persons charged with an offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
