CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ - June 30, 2019, 11:01 p.m. Patrolman Nicholas Giordano was monitoring traffic on Woodland Avenue when he observed a vehicle driving erratically. Patrolman Nicholas Giordano conducted a motor vehicle stop and brief roadside investigation. While speaking with the driver, Kevin Murphy 45 of Gillette, NJ, he noticed several open bottles of alcohol inside of the vehicle.
After further investigation and roadside sobriety testing Kevin Murphy was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Murphy was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Possession of an Open Container of Alcoholic Beverage and other motor vehicle violations. Mr. Murphy was released pending a future Municipal Court date.
