Nov. 25 - 5:49 pm Shoplifting: P.O. Robert Manning responded to the area of ShopRite, 17-17 River Road, after they reported two males attempting to leave with unpaid items in their vehicle and arrested Charles Thompson, age 54 of Prospect Park, and Terrance Oliver, age 52 of Passaic, after he stopped their vehicle by Walgreen’s, 17-77 River Road, with the $734 in unpaid items in the trunk. Both were released after being charged with shoplifting.

Nov. 27 - 11:02 am Driving While Intoxicated: P.O. Anthony Burgos, P.O. Luis Vasquez, P.O. Peter Federico & P.O. Miguel Cruz responded to Plaza Road at Howard Avenue on a report of a single vehicle crash into a telephone pole and arrested the operator, Elena Petrenko, age 56 of Fair Lawn, after she failed a roadside sobriety test. She was released to a responsible adult after being charged with reckless driving, having an alcoholic beverage inside a motor vehicle & driving while intoxicated.

Nov. 28 - Forgery: On 10-4-18, a victim from Fair Lawn reported to Fair Lawn Police that a check that was mailed at the Radburn Post Office, 14-24 Abbott Road, for $150 was never received by the business that it was mailed to and instead cashed by someone else. Det. Paul Donohue took over the investigation and arrested Dennis Marie Cordero, age 19 female from Haledon, after she admitted to being paid to cash the check for another party. She was released after being charged with theft by deception.

Nov. 28 - 9:19 am Wanted Person: Sgt. Brian Metzler initiated a motor vehicle stop on Broadway in Paterson and arrested the operator, Matthew Galitz, age 48 of Fair Lawn, after locating an arrest warrant for no bail out of Bergen County. He was handed over to Bergen County Sheriff’s Department.

Nov. 28 - 4:15 pm Narcotics: Det/Sgt. Joseph Mecionis initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 North at Maple Avenue and arrested the operator, Ahmed Eltigani, age 19 of Rosedale, NY, after marijuana was discovered inside the vehicle. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving & failure to produce an insurance card.

Nov. 28 - 5:20 pm Narcotics: Det. Brian Rypkema approached a suspicious male inside of CVS, 18-35 River Road, after he fit the description of a passenger in a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle crash nearby and arrested Ricky Johnson, age 51 of Hasbrouck Heights, after receiving a hypodermic needle from Johnson upon request for the detective. He was released after being charged with possession of a hypodermic needle.

Nov. 30 - 10:18 am Wanted Person; Sgt. Brian Metzler initiated a motor vehicle stop on Plaza Road at Morlot Avenue and arrested the operator, Mark Gertman, age 51 of Fair Lawn, after arrest warrants were located out of Hackensack ($1,000) and Haledon ($500). He was charged with failure to inspect, maintenance of vehicle lamps, cracked windshield and operating with a suspended license, then released after bail was posted.

Dec. 1 -12:15 am Narcotics: P.O. Justin DiGuglielmo initiated a motor vehicle stop on Maple Avenue at Hemlock Avenue and arrested the operator, Donald Arnott Jr, age 25 of Accord, NY, after evidence of drug use was located inside the vehicle and on his person. He was released after being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and following too closely.

Dec. 1 - 3:14 pm Driving While Intoxicated: P.O. Christopher Sullivan initiated a motor vehicle stop on Orchard Street at Berdan Avenue and arrested the operator, Melanie Acosta, age 25 of Fair Lawn, after she failed a roadside sobriety test. Cocaine was found in her jacket search incident to arrest. She was released to a family member after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, careless driving and driving while intoxicated.

Dec. 2 - 10:17 pm Driving While Intoxicated: P.O. Javier Gutierrez responded to a single vehicle crash on Plaza Road at Fairmount Place and arrested the operator, Jay Bae, age 56 of Woodcliff Lake, after he failed a roadside sobriety test. He was released to a family member after being charged with careless driving and driving while intoxicated.

Dec. 4 - Forgery: On 9-17-18, a resident of Fair Lawn reported to Fair Lawn Police that two checks that had been mailed from a post box on Saddle River Road near Van Duren Avenue had been endorsed by a person other than where they were sent. Det. Paul Donohue took over the investigation and arrested an 18-year-old female (17 at the time of incident) from Paterson after she admitted to fishing mail out of the post box and cashing the checks, using a friend’s account. She was released and will be charged with theft of movable property and theft by deception on a juvenile petition in family court.

Dec. 5 - 7:41 am Narcotics: P.O. Tiller Uriarte initiated a motor vehicle stop on Fair Lawn Avenue at Elmwood Place and arrested the operator, Montreal McKinney, age 27 of Paterson, after finding marijuana inside the vehicle. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), CDS in a motor vehicle and operating an unregistered vehicle.

Chief Glen Cauwels stated all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
